The Report on the Retail Banking Review, published in November 2022, includes a recommendation that Ireland should fulfil certain OECD obligations in the area of financial literacy and develop a national financial literacy strategy. The Department of Finance has been tasked with the development of this national financial literacy strategy. 

In order to inform this work, the Department of Finance is now undertaking an extensive stakeholder engagement process, including the issuing of this questionnaire, seeking information on financial literacy/education initiatives currently in place and being delivered in Ireland across government departments, state agencies, civil society, NGOs, representative bodies and the financial sector. 

While the key objective from this stakeholder engagement process will be to establish a stocktake of current financial literacy initiatives in place, it will also be used to identify potential gaps in financial literacy. Once this stage is completed, work will commence on the development of a national financial literacy strategy, informed by input from this stock-taking exercise and by international best practice in this area. 

We would welcome your input through completing this questionnaire.  The questionnaire is quite detailed, but many of the questions are optional. Registering to complete the survey is optional, but it will allow you to save a draft and come back to complete it later. 

The deadline for submission of a response is: 15 September 2023.
